Outback Spirit works closely with the Indigenous people of
the Australian outback by giving those who live in the remote communities of
the outback employment opportunities, education resources and training. In
recent years, this had involved the provisions of teachers in these
communities, and a $190,000 donation for the Kandiwal Community on the Mitchell
Plateau.
Outback Spirit are very eco-friendly. One example of the
eco-friendliness Outback Spirit has is how the company has been helping to keep
the Kimberly region’s ecosystem safe by donating to the Australian Wildlife
Conservancy each year. The Australian Wildlife Conservancy is a non-profit
committee with more than 1.5 million hectares of the Kimberly area under
conservation. The two companies have been working together since 2007, making
at least one major donation each year. This has helped the AWC as the money has
assisted them with protecting all of Australia’s animals and their habitats. Another
example of the eco-friendliness that Outback Spirit has shown is the Safari
Camp on the Mitchell Plateau. Outback Spirit has invested around $500,000 into the
Safari Camp’s waste water treatment and solar power generation. The Safari Camp
on the Mitchell Plateau is light years ahead of most of the other camps in the
Kimberley region.
